Who can have Reiki?
Everyone can have Reki, all ages, pregnant women and all stages of life. Because it is so gentle there are no contraindications.
What can I do to prepare for Reiki?
Wear loose-fitting, warm, comfortable clothing. You will be clothed throughout and mainly will be lying on your back.
What happens during a session?
A typical appointment session will involve a 45 minute treatment with time at the end to reflect. At your first session, we will have a short introduction or chat about the process and you can share any intention setting, these can be powerful but there is equal power in simply being open to the process. You will always be fully clothed and I will always check you are comfortable and provide blankets, pillows, bolsters if required. I will be moving my hands around your body, touching you lightly or have my hands just above your body. You may experience sensations in your body such as heat, coldness or tingling. Some people experience visualizations such as colours or pictures, or have emotions arising. Allow whatever arises without judgement, we honour all of it. Falling asleep is common too, as the body can go into deep relaxation.
What can I expect after a Reiki session?
There will be some extra time at the end of your session as you may feel a little spacey after the treatment and it's nice to reflect on what came up for you. I recommend, if possible not to do anything too strenuous after your session, as you may feel tired, emotions may arise and drink plenty of water. Healing will continue to take place in the days/weeks following. Remember do not get dis-heartened if you feel worse in the days after, we celebrate this, as it is old energy leaving your body, making space for the new!
