Who can have Spinal Flow?
Everyone can have Spinal Flow, all ages, and all stages of life. Because it is so gentle there are no contraindications. The founder of Spinal Flow always says if you have a spine, you can benefit from Spinal Flow!
What can I do to prepare for Spinal Flow Technique™?
Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing. No belts, ideally no jeans, synthetic leggings or thick seams. (you will be fully clothed throughout) Remove your shoes, jewellery, glasses, put long hair up before your session, and keep your phone switched off. You will be asked to fill out a personal history intake form before initial Spinal Flow session
What happens during the first Initial session?
The first appointment is 75 minutes, we discuss your intake form, do a gateway & posture assessment, physical assessment of your spinal blockages, 1st spinal flow session, and discuss your treatment plan/goals for healing. During the session portion of your appointment, you will be asked to lay face down on the table, I will place sacral bolsters under your hips, and use access points on your sacrum and head, allowing your spinal wave to move through the spine clearing blockages. Your job during the session is to relax and be present in your body. It is preferred that you stay awake throughout the session, with minimal talking to notice any gentle cues from your body to move or increase breath which can help to increase the flow of CSF (cerebral spinal fluid)
Follow up treatment sessions - 30 min
These sessions focus purely on access points and releasing blockages. Spinal Flow works best as an accumulative technique as the body starts to process and release layers of stress. On average, clients who have deep layers of stress may need to receive a short, intensive period of Spinal Flow treatments, 1-2 sessions a week over 1-2 months, or some prefer to have a few sessions in one day. This frequency helps establish a consistent energy flow and allows the body to adapt to the changes being facilitated. Your needs are discussed at your initial assessment appointment and focus is entirely on your healing journey.
Reassessment Sessions
These are typically done after 12 consecutive sessions. Similar to the first assessment we will do a posture assessment to assess healing changes.
How many sessions will I need?
As mentioned above, this depends on what you want to get out of your sessions. People come to Spinal Flow for many reasons from simple relaxation to healing. It also depends on how much stress your body is holding - we will assess this in the first session. Finally, it's also down to your body because it has innate intelligence and may be ready to let go in a few sessions or it may need more time.
The most effective way to receive spinal flow initially is frequently over a short time frame and then reduced for maintenance sessions, this could look like once a week, once a month, what best fits your needs is key. One size does not fit all, we are all unique and healing paths are all different, so no judgement will be given to anything, and communication is key. It is a partnership between you and I to achieve your wellness goals.
What can I expect after a Spinal Flow session?
Your flow and how your body heals is unique to you. Often people feel very relaxed after a session and many report feeling lighter and certain symptoms or pains may disappear immediately, or sometimes healing can make us feel a little worse before we feel better. It depends on the type of stress that is being released and how your body responds. With each session, we are tracking change without judgement and celebrate the body's innate healing wisdom. If you find discomfort, it's best to reach out to me for suggestions, sometimes I may recommend coming back sooner rather than later to help move the changes through.
